Social and Projects Committee

The Committee meet to discuss ideas and organise a variety of events to raise funds for Riverside Church eg Nearly New Sale, other social events and trips to encourage members of the congregation and friends to come together socially. Monies raised from these events are made available for special projects such as Christmas Lunch for Senior Citizens, and the provision of some items of equipment for Messy Church.
The Committee meets at intervals throughout the year. Additional meetings may be organised to finalise arrangements for events.

On 5th December a bus will be travelling to the Royal Concert Hall in Glasgow to give members of the Congregation the opportunity to support the CLIC Sargent Carol Concert. This annual event has been very much enjoyed by those attending for several years now, and the concert has been a most successful fund-raising event for CLIC Sargent.

Nearly New Sale 18-19 Oct 2013

The Social & Projects Committee will be organizing a Nearly New Sale in the Church Games’ Hall on Friday and Saturday the 18th and 19th October. Entry will cost £1.00 which includes the cost of tea or coffee with biscuits.

Due to limited storage space we would ask anyone wishing to donate items to keep them until the week beginning 14th October. Thereafter please contact the Church Office (01389 742551) or Jim (please send a comment to this post if you require his number/email) to arrange pick-up of items if required.

In the past our Nearly New Sales have been very popular in the town and local community. They have proved to be excellent fund-raising activities, and the Committee are hoping for good support again this year.

Anyone who would like to offer assistance please speak to Jim or any member of the Social & Projects Committee.

Money raised from the sale this year will go towards the Church Tower Repair Fund.

Again this year, the Social & Projects Committee will be organizing a bus to provide transport to the CLIC Sargent Carol Concert at Glasgow Royal Concert Hall on Friday 6th December. Those wishing to attend are asked to give their names to Jean Ballantyne. The cost will be £26. A few tickets are still available.
Over several years many members of Riverside Church have enjoyed this Christmas Concert which has proved to be an excellent fundraising event for CLIC Sargent who are working to help children with cancer and leukemia.

At least twenty eight members and friends of Riverside Church are set to enjoy a night out at the Edinburgh Playhouse on Tuesday 12th November, to see the stage production of “The Lion King”. Transport, by coach, from Dumbarton has been organized.

One of the biggest musicals around, all are assured of a stunning performance.
