Care for the Family Event in Edinburgh

Getting your kids through church without them ending up hating God

Every year, thousands of young people leave the church and for many of us, this is a personal concern. However many of them don’t actually turn their back on God, but on something else.

This tour, presented by Care for the Family, is an opportunity for parents, church leaders and youth workers to join Rob Parsons, Saltmine Theatre Company and Abi Williams as we discover together what that “something” might be – and try to change it.

Topics include:

  • God has no grandchildren
  • The jelly mould syndrome
  • Giving our kids a vision
  • The big five that harm the faith of our children
  • Creating a sense of belonging
  • Preparing our kids for disappointment

At least twenty eight members and friends of Riverside Church are set to enjoy a night out at the Edinburgh Playhouse on Tuesday 12th November, to see the stage production of “The Lion King”. Transport, by coach, from Dumbarton has been organized.

One of the biggest musicals around, all are assured of a stunning performance!

Eleanor’s Last Sunday as Minister at Riverside

We’re not saying goodbye – Eleanor will continue to be with us for the time being as our Interim Moderator, but will shortly take up the post of Interim Minister at St Nicholas Cardonald in Glasgow.

During the service on Sunday 31 March Margaret Livingstone, Session Clerk, on behalf of the whole congregation, thanked Eleanor for all her efforts over the last few years, acknowledging the stronger and more positive position Riverside is now in and sense of enthusiastic optimism amongst us all for the future.

Tea/coffee and nibbles were served in the main hall after the service.
